Finding ideas

Ideas come in on their own, and no longer get lost.

The article you sent yourself on WhatsApp, the screenshot lost in your camera roll, the industry blog you read when you have time, which is never. And on Monday the week’s plan is empty. In kSocial sources are read automatically and bring their new content into one page, sorted by pillar: what is worth it becomes an idea in the plan in one click, or lands on a board until the post takes shape.

One place where ideas arrive, and one where they take shape

Sources are added in Settings › Inspiration sources and come in three kinds: an RSS or Atom feed, a link to a single page, a Files folder. kSocial rereads them every 6 hours and puts the new content in the “Inspiration” tab, with title, excerpt and image: one folder per pillar, “Ignored” at the bottom. From each item: “Save as idea”, “Ignore” or “To a board”. What you leave untouched disappears by itself after 90 days; saved ideas stay. Boards, in the same tab, are free canvases for a campaign or a month: images, notes, colour swatches and links, moved and grouped as on a table.

How it works

  1. Add the sources

Paste the address of the blog or the publication: the feed is found automatically. A Files folder you pick from the list. Each source can sit under a pillar.

  2. Choose what to keep

“Save as idea” creates a row with the “Idea” status and title, link, excerpt and image already filled in, plus the source’s pillar. “Ignore” takes the item out of the new ones without losing it.

  3. Build the board

Add images from the library, the brand kit or Files, or paste them in; then notes and colour swatches. A pasted address becomes a link with a preview. When it is ready you export it as PNG or PDF for the client.

A saved idea is already a row in the plan.

What you can do

  • The feed finds itself

You do not need to know what a feed is: the site’s address is enough and kSocial looks for the right one in the page. For an article found by chance there is the “Link” type: the page becomes an item to save as an idea.

  • A Files folder as a source

With Files active, images and documents from a folder arrive in Inspiration, read with the permissions of whoever added it. When you save the idea the file is copied into its attachments; files in the vault stay in Files.

  • One folder per pillar

Sources and boards are placed under a pillar: in Inspiration every pillar has its own folder with the count of new items, and ideas saved from there are born with that pillar already set.

  • From article to draft, with the AI

With the “AI assistant” extension, “Write a post from this” has the model read the whole article and write the draft for the channel you choose, linked to the source. If the page is behind a paywall or has no text, kSocial says so and “Save as idea” remains.

  • A canvas you use like a table

Move, resize, rotate, align and distribute; zoom and “Fit all”. Colours come from the brand kit, and an article from Inspiration arrives with its image and a note with the link. One person edits at a time; the others watch and see who is working on it.

  • From the board to the plan

Every image, note or link on the board becomes an idea with “Save as idea”: title, text and image carry over into the row. Deleting the board does not touch the images, which stay in the library.

In depth

  • Idea collection form

The sales rep saw something at a trade fair, the client has an anniversary to tell, a colleague has just the right photo: ideas arrive in chats, by word of mouth, in a forwarded email, and half are lost before they become a post. The Idea collection form is a page with a link you send to whoever you like, even without an account: whoever fills it in suggests a post, and the suggestion enters the project as an “Idea”, ready to be evaluated.

Frequently asked questions

Does the client see the inspiration?

No. Sources, items and boards are internal work: an external user does not have the “Inspiration” tab. If you want to show them a board, you export it as PNG or PDF and send it.

How often are the sources updated?

Every 6 hours, on their own, and “Refresh” rereads them right away. Items you have neither saved nor ignored disappear after 90 days. Deleting a source removes its items from Inspiration, but ideas already saved stay.

Who can add sources and save ideas?

Sources are managed by whoever looks after the project’s channels and pillars. Saving an idea, putting an item on a board or editing a board is for whoever can write posts. The project’s other internal members can look.
