kSocial extension
The approved post goes out by itself, at the time you decided.
The post was approved on Tuesday but has to go out on Friday at 9: someone has to remember, open LinkedIn, paste the text, upload the images and then come back to kSocial to paste the link. With Social publishing you connect the account that manages the pages once, and the post leaves by itself at the time on the calendar.
Today LinkedIn: company pages and personal profiles
You connect the LinkedIn account of whoever manages the pages, once for the whole company: from there each LinkedIn channel in your projects picks which page it posts to, and personal profiles post in the person’s name. The connection renews itself. Only posts marked “To schedule” that someone confirmed after seeing the preview go out; if LinkedIn refuses, kSocial retries and then stops, with the reason written on the post. Other social networks and channels without a connected page stay manual as before: you publish by hand and paste the link.
How it works
-
Connect the account
Whoever has the “Connected social accounts” privilege connects LinkedIn from the kSocial Control centre. kSocial reads the pages that account manages.
-
Match the channel to the page
In the project settings, under Channels, each LinkedIn channel picks its page. A social profile lives in one place only: as a project channel or among the personal profiles.
-
Check the preview and schedule
On a post marked “To schedule”, “Schedule on the social network” shows how it will look on LinkedIn, including the “see more” cut. “Schedule” sends it at the planned time, “Publish now” straight away.
The post goes out at the calendar time, not when someone remembers.
What you can do
-
Images, video and links
Text with up to 20 images, one MP4 video or a link card. A format LinkedIn does not accept shows up in the preview, before you confirm, not afterwards.
-
Scheduled means locked
A scheduled post cannot be edited: to change it you take it out of the schedule and schedule it again. What goes out is what someone confirmed, not a version touched up afterwards.
-
Check after publishing
On company pages kSocial reads back from LinkedIn the posts it published: if one did not really go out, it comes back with the reason. On personal profiles this check does not exist, and kSocial says so.
-
Personal profiles
Whoever has the “Personal profile” privilege connects their LinkedIn profile and gets a calendar of their own, separate from the company’s projects. They decide who can write and schedule on their behalf.
-
Reshare a published post
A post that has already gone out can be relaunched with a comment: a new post goes out, with the original framed below it.
-
The client approves, but does not publish
A client who joins the project as a guest does not connect accounts or schedule posts: they approve the content, and the people running the project do the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Which social networks does it publish to?
Today on LinkedIn: company pages and personal profiles. The plan’s other channels stay manual: you publish by hand and paste the link into the post, as before.
What happens if LinkedIn rejects the post?
kSocial retries up to three times, twenty minutes apart; then it stops, takes the post out of the schedule and writes the reason on it (“It did not go out: …”), so a person can review it and decide.
Who can send a post out?
Connecting accounts is a separate privilege, “Connected social accounts”. Scheduling a post on the network is done by people who can approve in the project, and only from a post marked “To schedule”: approving and deciding to publish remain two separate steps.
