Klokka extension

The timer sits next to your computer’s clock.

Kamzan Desktop is Kamzan’s app for Windows and macOS. With this extension Klokka comes into it: a click on the icon in the system tray opens a panel with the timer, and without opening the browser you start it, stop it or pick up the previous entry again.

The same timer, outside the browser

The panel that opens from the system tray has a “Klokka” tab, and the timer also appears in “Today”, next to appointments. If the timer is running you see project, activity, client, the running time and “Stop”; if it is stopped, “Start” opens the same fields as the window — client, project, task, activity, description. Below are today’s entries, to restart with one click. When the timer is on, the icon in the system tray shows a teal triangle. In the main window, the Klokka page brings together the timer with today’s total, the day’s agenda with “Start” on each activity, and today’s entries with “Restart”. It is the same timer as Klokka on the web: what you start on one side you stop on the other. Using it takes three things: Kamzan Desktop active for the company, this extension on in Klokka and the “Desktop app” privilege in your user type. Without them, Klokka is used from the browser as always.

How it works

  1. Sign in to Kamzan Desktop

With your Kamzan account, as on the web. If you have the “Desktop app” privilege, Klokka appears among the apps in the sidebar and in the panel.

  2. Start from the system tray

Click the icon, “Klokka” tab: “Start” with client and project, or one click on one of today’s entries to pick up from there.

  3. Watch the icon, then stop

While the timer runs, the icon carries the triangle. “Stop” from the panel, the window or Klokka on the web: the entry is the same.

The timer you can see is the timer you do not forget.

What you can do

  • The mark on the icon

A teal triangle on the icon says the timer is on, without opening anything. If there are files to sort out in the syncs, that mark takes precedence.

  • Today’s entries one click away

The day’s latest entries, and the activities on the agenda, restart with one click: same project, same activity, same description.

  • The day in the window

In the main window, the Klokka page shows the timer, the hours tracked today, today’s agenda and the day’s entries.

  • One timer, everywhere

Desktop, web and the card in other apps read the same timer. Mandatory notes and questions are completed afterwards, as for any entry started from the timer.

Frequently asked questions

What is needed to use Klokka in Kamzan Desktop?

Kamzan Desktop active for the company, this extension on in Klokka and the “Desktop app” privilege in your user type. By default Administrator, Manager and User have it; Collaborators do not, unless the administrator grants it. If one of the first two is missing, ask Kamzan; the third is up to the company administrator.

Can I do everything I do in Klokka on the web?

No: Desktop brings the timer, today’s agenda and the day’s entries. Reports, approvals, leave and settings stay in Klokka on the web.

If I close the window, does the timer stop?

No. The timer lives in Klokka, not in the window: once the window is closed, the app stays in the system tray and the timer runs until you stop it.
