Klokka extension
Twenty-five minutes on one thing. Then a real break.
Pomodoro is a focus aid, not a reporting tool. You start it from the “Pomodoro” button in the Klokka bar, work until it rings, and actually stop: the break begins only when you confirm it.
Separate from your hours, unless you want otherwise
The cycle is the classic one: focus, short break, and every four cycles a long break, with the durations you prefer. At the end of an interval the timer does not move on by itself: it rings, sends a notification and waits for you to confirm with “Start break” or “Resume”. You can link the session to client, project, subproject and activity, but you do not have to. By default Pomodoro creates no entries and stays out of reports: the “History” keeps the sessions, with completed cycles and minutes of focus. If you turn on “Also start time tracking”, at each focus block the Klokka timer starts on the linked project and stops at the end of the block; breaks are not logged. Pomodoro appears to those with the “Pomodoro” privilege in their user type.
How it works
-
Choose the durations
Focus, short break, long break and cycles before the long break: they start at 25, 5, 15 and 4. Sound and notification are switched on and off here, and the choices are kept for next time.
-
Focus
The countdown keeps running while you move between Klokka pages. You can pause, skip the phase or finish the session.
-
Confirm the break
At the end of the focus block it rings and a notification arrives; the break starts when you press “Start break”. At the end of the session, if you completed at least one cycle, you find it in the “History”.
The timer measures the work. Pomodoro protects it.
What you can do
-
Your own durations
Longer focus blocks for deep work, shorter breaks on busy days: you decide the durations and the number of cycles before the long break.
-
The break does not slip away
The timer waits for your confirmation at every change of phase, with sound and notification: you do not slip into a break without noticing, nor go back to work without having taken it.
-
Session history
Each session keeps the completed cycles and the minutes of focus, and the project if you linked one.
-
Logged hours, if you want them
With “Also start time tracking” and a project chosen, every focus block becomes a time entry, breaks excluded. If a timer is already running, Pomodoro does not replace it.
Frequently asked questions
Do Pomodoro sessions end up in reports?
No. The history is yours and produces no hours. Only the entries created with “Also start time tracking” go into reports, and they are Klokka entries like any other.
Who can use it?
Those with the “Pomodoro” privilege. By default the Administrator, Manager and User types have it; Collaborators do not, but the administrator can change that.
What if I close the browser halfway through a session?
If you come back within a few minutes the session picks up where it was. If it stays abandoned longer, the cycles already completed are saved to the history and Pomodoro stops, with no surprise alarms.
