Klokka extension
The timer starts from where you are working.
You are answering an email in kMail and realise the timer never started. With this extension you do not need to open Klokka: the tab on the right edge opens the “Timer” card, you pick the project and press “Start”. The page you were on stays where it is.
One gesture only: start or stop
The card is made for the forgotten timer, not for reporting. It shows the timer of whoever uses it and nobody else’s, with the running time and the “Stop” button. When stopped it offers the projects you worked on in the last seven days, the last entry to resume and today’s total; “Choose what to track” opens client, project, subproject and activity. Description, tags and end-of-entry questions stay in Klokka, one click away from “Open Klokka”. The card appears to those with the “Live timer” privilege, the same one needed to start the timer inside Klokka; it does not appear inside Klokka itself, because there the same thing is done from the page. Without the extension, the timer starts only from Klokka.
How it works
-
Open the tab
In Files, kMail, Notika or any other Kamzan app, the tab on the right edge opens the widget group. The “Timer” card tells you straight away whether you are tracking or not.
-
One tap on the project
Tap one of the recent projects, or “Resume” on the last entry: the timer starts. If you need something else, “Choose what to track” opens client, project, subproject and activity, and the choice is kept for next time.
-
Stop it, then complete it in Klokka
“Stop” closes the entry. It is a Klokka entry like any other: description and tags are added from Klokka, and from there it goes into the figures.
The timer you forgot is recovered without changing page.
What you can do
-
This week’s projects
Up to four projects, taken from your entries in the last seven days, most recent first: the forgotten timer is almost always on one of them.
-
Resume the last entry
After a break, “Resume” restarts on the project you were working on a moment ago, without choosing anything.
-
The day on one line
Today’s total, including the running timer, and a bar from 8 am to 8 pm — wider if you work earlier or later — showing where the gaps are.
-
Only your timer
The card does not show colleagues’ entries and asks for no extra privileges: it appears to whoever can already start the timer in Klokka.
-
Everyone decides whether to keep it
The company turns it on for everyone; each person can turn it off in their own Preferences, under “Quick widgets”, and the choice applies in every app.
Frequently asked questions
What is needed for the card to appear?
Three things: the widget group active for the company, this extension on in Klokka — it already is, unless the administrator turned it off — and the “Live timer” privilege in your user type.
Can I add a description and tags from the card?
No, on purpose: the card starts and stops the timer. The rest is completed in Klokka, where the entry appears like any other.
If I started the timer in Klokka, does the card see it?
Yes. There is only one timer: the card reloads its state every time you open the group, and you can stop it from there.
