Collaborating
Everything you need during the meeting, already in the room
You show your screen while a colleague shows theirs, send a file in the chat, write privately to one person, raise your hand without interrupting. And if the network acts up, kMeeting brings you back in by itself.
Fewer windows open, more meeting
A project review at Ferrari Design has everything going on: the designer shows the draft, the client wants to compare it with the current website, someone sends the updated PDF, someone else has a question but doesn’t want to interrupt. If each of these needs a different app, the meeting gets lost among the windows. In kMeeting it all happens in the room: screens side by side, chat with files, reactions and raised hands, and a tidy look even from a kitchen or a hotel room.
How it works
-
Join and get ready
Before joining you choose camera, microphone and background: light or strong blur, an image from the collection or a photo of your own.
-
Share and write
You show your screen, a window or a YouTube video that plays for everyone at the same moment. In the chat you write to everyone or privately and attach files to download.
-
Take part without interrupting
Raise your hand to ask for the floor, reply with a reaction, pin whoever you want in the foreground. If you switch windows, the meeting follows you in Picture-in-Picture.
Screens, files and questions stay in the room, not in ten windows.
What you can do
-
Several screens shared at once
Two or three people can share their screens at the same time: you move between them with the arrows, and the “1/3” indicator says who is showing what. Handy for comparing a draft with the current version.
-
YouTube videos for everyone, in sync
Paste the address of a YouTube video and it starts for everyone from the same point, with full sound and picture: no choppy video shared through the screen.
-
Chat with private messages and files
Write to “Everyone” or to one person only, with clickable links and files of up to 25 MB dragged into the conversation. The chat isn’t kept after the meeting and files delete themselves after 24 hours.
-
Raised hands and reactions
Raise your hand to queue for the floor and the organiser sees it in the list. A round of applause or a thumbs-up reaches everyone without taking the floor from anyone.
-
Pinning and Picture-in-Picture
Pin the presenter in the foreground. When you move to another window, the meeting stays visible in a small floating window, and with the automatic option it opens by itself.
-
Blur and virtual backgrounds
Light or strong blur, a background from the collection or your own uploaded image, adjusted to the frame. Your home stays yours; the meeting only sees you.
-
Reconnection and notes
If the network drops, kMeeting reconnects by itself. Meanwhile you can take a personal note that goes into your Notika notebook; with the dedicated extension guests can write their own notes too and download them or have them emailed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the chat saved?
No. Messages exist only during the meeting and files shared in the chat are deleted after 24 hours. If a document needs to stay, download it or save it where you normally keep it.
Can several people share their screen at once?
Yes. Each share stays available and you scroll from one to the next; the indicator shows how many there are and who is sharing. The organiser decides whether sharing is open or must be requested.
Do I need a powerful computer for blur?
It works on everyday computers. If yours struggles and others see you stuttering, kMeeting tells you and suggests turning it off; where the device doesn’t support it, it says so before you join.
Can I join from my phone?
Yes, from the phone’s browser, without installing an app: you see the others, speak, write in the chat and raise your hand. For screen sharing a computer is more convenient.
