With the Recording extension
The meeting is over. The minutes are already written.
From the recording, kMeeting produces the text of everything that was said, with the name of who was speaking. Then it condenses it into tidy minutes: summary, topics, decisions, action items and open questions, ready to send.
Nobody has to take notes instead of taking part
In every meeting someone writes instead of speaking, and the minutes arrive two days later, if at all. At Rossi & Partner the monthly client meeting is recorded; when it ends, kMeeting transcribes the audio, puts the right name next to each contribution and draws up the minutes. Transcription works on the recording, so it happens after the meeting: within a few minutes the text is ready to review, correct and share.
How it works
-
You record the meeting
The transcript comes from the recording: start recording as usual, with attendees’ consent, and while people talk kMeeting keeps track of who has the floor.
-
Transcription runs after the meeting
Start it with one click from the Recordings page, or it runs on its own if you chose to send materials to participants when you started. Within minutes the text is ready.
-
Review and share the minutes
Check the names, fix them if needed, generate the minutes and email them to whoever needs them. Or download the transcript in the format you need.
You talk. kMeeting writes the minutes.
What you can do
-
Every sentence with its speaker
kMeeting tells the voices apart and matches them to the meeting’s participants. If a name is wrong, correct it once and it changes throughout the transcript.
-
Your company’s glossary
Product names, acronyms, industry terms: the administrator writes them once in the settings and the transcript recognises them, together with participants’ names.
-
Minutes in five parts
Summary, Topics discussed, Decisions, Action items and Open questions. Anyone who missed it understands in two minutes what was decided and who does what.
-
Four download formats
MD to keep as a document, TXT to paste anywhere, SRT and VTT to pair with the recorded video as subtitles.
-
Minutes delivered by email
Send it from the recording page to colleagues and clients, or it goes out to participants on its own if you chose that when you started recording.
-
Your company picks the engine
Transcription uses a cloud service, or an engine installed on the company’s own servers where the installation provides one. The model that writes the minutes is also chosen per company, including a local model.
Frequently asked questions
Does transcription work during the meeting?
No: it happens afterwards, on the recording. Once the meeting ends, the text is ready within a few minutes. That is why the meeting must have been recorded, with attendees’ consent.
Where is the audio processed?
By default transcription uses a specialised cloud service, with the key set by your company. If your installation includes a transcription engine on its own servers, the administrator can choose that instead. The minutes use the model your company specifies, which can also be a local one.
What language are the minutes written in?
In the language that was spoken. The minutes follow the transcript: if the supplier meeting was in English, the summary and decisions come out in English.
Can an end-to-end encrypted meeting be transcribed?
No. In end-to-end meetings the server cannot hear the audio, so there is no recording, transcript or minutes. That is the trade-off for full confidentiality, and it is deliberate.
