kSocial extension

Campaigns on a line of time: overlaps and gaps show up at once.

A launch that runs for two weeks, a Christmas promotion, an event with a before and an after: in a monthly calendar they are scattered posts, in a spreadsheet rows that do not say how long they last. The Timeline view puts posts on an eight-week line, one row per channel or content pillar: you see where two initiatives tread on each other’s toes and where a channel goes silent for ten days.

Each post is a bar, each channel a row

The Timeline shows eight weeks at a time, from last week onwards, and moves four weeks at a time, with “Today” to come back to the present. Rows are the project’s channels or its content pillars; every dated post is a bar coloured by its status. A post that lasts several days — a campaign, a contest, a series — has an end date (“Until” in the post) and the bar stretches to it. The same extension brings the Gantt view: one row per post, to follow campaigns one by one.

How it works

  1. Choose the rows

Channel to see the load on each network, Content pillar to see whether topics alternate.

  2. Drag to move

A dragged bar changes the post’s date, and that of the whole campaign if it has an end; pulled from its right edge, it changes how long it lasts.

  3. Fill the gaps

One click on an empty day in a row creates a post already set to that channel or content pillar, on that date.

You see the gap in the plan today, not on the day something was meant to go out.

What you can do

  • By channel or content pillar

Rows switch with one click; posts with no channel or content pillar get a row of their own, so they do not disappear.

  • Campaigns with a duration

A post can have a “from → to”: the bar covers every day of the campaign, not just the publication day.

  • Colour shows the status

Draft, under review, approved, scheduled, published: bars still lagging close to their date stand out from a distance.

  • Preview on hover

Hovering over a bar shows the post in brief; a click, or Enter on the keyboard, opens the full post.

  • The Gantt too

Same extension, second view: one row per post in date order, to follow a long campaign from first to last day.

Frequently asked questions

Which posts appear on the Timeline?

Those with a date, in any status except “Cancelled”. Ideas with no date yet stay in the other views until someone puts them in the calendar.

Who can move posts by dragging them?

Whoever has permission to write posts. Everyone else, the client included, looks at the Timeline and opens posts, but the bars stay where they are.

Is the Timeline view paid separately?

No, it is included in kSocial. If the option has a padlock in the “Create new…” menu, the administrator switches it on from Control centre › Extensions, for the whole company.
