Reply, mention, find again: the conversation stays in order even when it races ahead

A reply quoting the right message, a mention reaching the right person, a correction that does not erase the past. And when you need to find Tuesday’s quote again, you pin it or search for it.

“Which quote?” should not be a question

In a work chat words matter: an “okay” given to the wrong message is the wrong order. kTalk ties every reply to the message it quotes, asks for confirmation before disturbing the whole group and keeps the previous versions of a corrected text, so readers always know what was said, and when.

How it works

  1. Reply to the right message

With “Reply” the original message appears quoted above yours. Type @ and a name to bring a colleague in; @everyone alerts the whole group, after a confirmation telling you how many people will be notified.

  2. Correct without rewriting history

A typo is fixed with “Edit”: the message carries the “edited” mark and with “See what was there before” everyone can read the earlier versions. If a message should never have gone out, “Delete for everyone” withdraws it from every device.

  3. Find what matters

Pin the site address to the top for yourself or for everyone, mark the client’s confirmation as important, search for a word across all chats or inside a single conversation.

Every word in its place, even at a hundred messages an hour.

What you can do

  • Seven reactions, no noise

👍 👎 👏 ❤️ 😂 🎉 😮: one tap is enough to say “got it” or “great job” without adding a message to the conversation.

  • Mentions that get through

Whoever is mentioned gets a dedicated notification, even in a crowded group. @everyone exists, but asks for confirmation: nobody alerts forty colleagues by accident.

  • Pinned and important

“Pin for me” keeps a message to hand just for you; “Pin for everyone” shows it at the top of the chat for every participant. In groups the administrator does it, in channels whoever writes there.

  • Forward to several chats at once

Choose the conversations, press “Forward” and the message goes to all of them, marked “Forwarded”. At the end you see where it arrived and whether anything failed.

  • Without notification, when it is late

At ten in the evening you remember something for tomorrow morning: “Send without notification” delivers it without making anyone’s phone buzz.

  • Search across all chats

One word and you find the message, in any conversation encrypted with the company’s key. Inside a single chat you step through the results one by one, with “Previous” and “Next”.

  • Link previews

A link you send shows the page’s title and image. Recipients do not contact the site, and if you prefer you can turn previews off on your device.

Frequently asked questions

If I edit a message, can others see what was there before?

Yes. The previous text is not thrown away: every member of the conversation can open the message’s versions. In a work chat a correction has to stay transparent. Editing is available in chats encrypted with the company’s key, not in end-to-end ones.

Can I delete a colleague’s message?

No: “Delete for everyone” only works on your own messages, and not even an administrator can delete other people’s. Everyone answers for what they write, and nobody can make a colleague’s words disappear.

Does search work in every conversation?

Global search covers chats encrypted with the company’s key. End-to-end conversations are left out, because the server cannot read them, and kTalk tells you so in the results; inside one of them you search among the messages loaded on your device.

Does the link preview tell the website who received the message?

No. The sender prepares the preview: the app asks the server to read the page, then title and image travel with the message. Recipients do not open the site until they click. If you do not want it, you turn it off in your device settings.
