Setting up the project
The job is born whole, not in pieces.
A project usually starts as a row in an Excel sheet, and the structure comes later: tasks in an email, hours in another table, deadlines in the head of whoever sold it. In Projekta you open a single panel and write it all there: subprojects, tasks, hours, milestones, people. It is saved when it is ready, all at once.
One panel, from start to finish
The project panel is split into areas you visit in any order: where you start from, project details, people, structure and hours, milestones, summary. The hour budget is spread over subprojects and tasks, and next to each level you see how much you have already assigned below: if you go over, you see it now, not when the job is finished. Before saving, the summary flags what does not add up — a deadline before the start, a milestone without a date, the tasks nobody has been given yet. The same panel is used later to change the running project.
How it works
-
Start from a template or from scratch
Pick an empty project or one of the company’s templates: subprojects, tasks, hours and milestones come already written, with the dates moved to your start day. People and client are up to you.
-
Build structure and hours
Subprojects, tasks and subtasks in a single tree, with people, start, deadline and hours on every row. A task becomes a milestone with one click: title and date come from it.
-
Check and save
The summary counts subprojects, tasks and distributed hours and tells you what is missing. Press “Create project”: everything is written at once, or nothing is.
The project you redo every month is set up only once.
What you can do
-
Owners and team
Owners run the project: they always see it and receive the alerts. The team is whoever works on it in Projekta; people who only log hours stay assignees and find their work in Klokka.
-
Milestones with a criterion
Every milestone has a date and a sentence saying when it is reached. You link it to the tasks and subprojects that lead there: when they are all closed, the Plan suggests marking it reached, but the confirmation stays with you.
-
The hour budget, level by level
Hours are written at every level, and next to them appears how much is already spread below, with the hours still free or the ones over. You can go over, but it shows.
-
Save as template
The project you do over and over — a website, an installation, an audit — becomes a template with structure, hours and milestones. People and client are left out, on purpose.
-
Clients already on file
The client is picked from the directory shared with the other Kamzan products, managed in Kamzan Account: no duplicates to keep in sync.
-
Klokka rates in the same panel
With Klokka active, the Financials area shows whether the project is billable, hourly or fixed-price. Whoever has the permission in Klokka changes it from here; everyone else just sees it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the template also copy people and client?
No. It brings subprojects, tasks, subtasks, hours and milestones, with the dates recalculated from the new start. People and client change from one job to the next, so you pick them each time. If you delete a template, the projects already created from it stay as they are.
Are the subprojects the same as in Klokka?
Yes: they are the parts the job is divided into, the same ones people log hours against in Klokka. If you archive a subproject it disappears from the lists, but the hours already logged remain.
What happens if I archive a project?
It disappears from the lists but is not deleted: tasks, hours and files stay where they are. You find it again by turning on “Show archived” on the projects page.
