Planning
Know when you will finish before you promise it.
The client asks “by when?” and the date gets decided by eyeballing the calendar, forgetting the August holidays and the other job that needs the same people. With “Simulate delivery” Projekta places the remaining work on the real calendars and tells you the day it finishes, and how many days before or after the date written on the job.
The Workload figures, in trial mode
The simulation starts from the hours left on each task: the estimate minus what is already logged in Klokka and minus past appointments still to be logged. It places them on people’s free hours, day by day, net of their calendar, appointments and work on other jobs. It respects dependencies and, among the tasks that are ready, takes the ones due soonest first, then priority. A task shared by three people splits the hours by three; an individual one gives the full hours to each. Tasks with no person get the first suggestion, marked “proposed”; those with no estimated hours are listed separately, because they cannot be simulated. Nothing is saved: no tasks, no calendar, no assignments.
How it works
-
Open the simulation
From the job’s budget, “Simulate delivery”: you see the estimated end date next to the planned one, with the days ahead or behind.
-
Try another route
Change the person or the hours on a task and the date is recalculated at once. “Back to how it is now” restores the real values.
-
See who holds the date
For each person, the hours on this job and their last working day on it; for each task, start, estimated end and the hours that do not fit.
A delivery date that is calculated, not guessed.
What you can do
-
Ahead or behind, in days
The answer is one sentence: it finishes on that day, so many days before or after plan. If with today’s free hours it does not finish within six months, it says so instead of inventing a date.
-
The deliveries that slip
Every task that would finish after its due date is flagged: you know which intermediate delivery is at risk before it arrives.
-
What is missing to trust it
Tasks without estimated hours and tasks without a person, for which even the suggestion finds nobody, are listed by name: you know what to fix for the date to be credible.
-
Free simulation, for quotes
Without creating any project: write the work items with hours and people and see when it would finish, on top of everything people already have to do.
-
Shared or individual hours
For each item you choose whether the hours are split among the people or each person does them all. You can say it starts after another item, and give it a due date and a priority.
-
Honest about what it knows
If Kalendo does not respond, the simulation says so and does not count calendar commitments: the date reflects only what actually came in, and you know how far to trust it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the simulation change anything in the project?
No. It is a trial: it does not assign tasks, write to calendars or change estimates, not even when you change people or hours to see the effect.
Can I simulate work I have not sold yet?
Yes, with the free simulation: list the items with hours and people, without creating the project. The work is added to what people already have, so the date takes running jobs into account.
What do I need to use it?
Klokka active, for working hours, holidays and hours already logged; with Kalendo the simulation also counts calendar commitments. It is used by whoever can assign tasks in Projekta, because it lines up the free hours of everyone involved.
