Only remember “the one from Bergamo”? That is enough to find him

Part of a name, the start of an email, the last digits of a phone number, the company or the city: type what you remember and results appear as you type, from every address book you can see.

Less time searching, more time calling

The client calls back and the name escapes you. You know he works at Rossi & Partner, or that the office is in Bergamo: that is all you need. Kontacts search looks at name, email, phone, company, function, website and city together, across all your address books — yours and those shared with you — or in just one, if you want to narrow it down. And when you are not looking for anyone in particular but want to browse, you choose how: cards with photos, a compact list or contacts grouped by company.

How it works

  1. Type what you remember

In the “Search contacts” bar type even just a few letters: “morel”, “@ferraridesign”, “bergamo”. Results update as you type.

  2. Narrow it down if needed

Leave “All address books” to search everywhere, or pick a single address book — clients, suppliers — when the same name appears in several places.

  3. You view it your way

Cards, List or By organization: the view you choose is still there next time. One click on the contact opens the card with every detail.

One detail is all you need to remember.

What you can do

  • Seven fields in one search

Name, email, phone, company, function, website and city: you do not have to choose where to search. Type “purchasing” and you find who works in purchasing at every supplier.

  • All address books, or just one

Search covers your address books and those colleagues have shared with you. The filter at the top narrows it to one address book when you only want clients.

  • Cards to recognise

The Cards view shows photo or initials, name, company and contact details in roomy tiles: handy when you remember a face better than a name.

  • A list to scroll fast

Four columns — Contact, Organization, Email, Address book — with the address book’s colour dot: at a glance you see who it is, where they work and which address book it comes from.

  • Grouped by company

The By organization view brings together everyone at Studio Morelli, then Rossi & Partner, in alphabetical order. Anyone without a company goes to the end, under “No organization”.

  • Jump to a letter

With hundreds of contacts there is no need to scroll: the alphabetical index takes you straight to M for Morelli or F for Ferrari.

Frequently asked questions

Do I also find contacts in address books shared with me?

Yes. With “All address books” search looks in yours and in those colleagues have shared with you, and the Address book column tells you where each result comes from.

Can I search by category or notes?

For questions like that there is AI search: type “suppliers with a note about delivery” and Kontacts finds the matching contacts. The regular search bar sticks to the seven contact fields.

Does the view I choose stay next time?

Yes, Kontacts remembers it on that computer: if you work by company, you find it already grouped by company.

Does it work on the phone too?

Yes: Kontacts opens in the phone’s browser and search works the same way. If you connect your phone via CardDAV, you also find the contacts in the phone’s own contacts app.
