Time logging
Hours get logged while you work, not at month end
One click to start the timer, or a few seconds to add an entry by hand. Either way the time lands already assigned to the right client and project: nobody has to reconstruct anything afterwards.
Time should be logged where it happens
Reporting from memory costs twice: first the time spent reconstructing it, then the hours that vanish because nobody remembers them. Klokka reduces logging to a few seconds, so people actually do it — and what you read in the reports matches the work done.
How it works
-
Start the timer
Pick client, project and activity, then start. The running timer stays visible everywhere in the app, so it is neither left running nor forgotten.
-
Close the entry with its context
When you stop, add the description, the tags and — if your company configured them — answer the required questions: the information you need for invoicing is collected now, not three weeks later.
-
The entry enters the books
From that moment the hours feed dashboards, goals, reports and project margin. Approvers see them queued up, whoever invoices finds them already priced at the right rate.
If logging hours takes ten seconds, people do it. If it takes ten minutes, they don’t.
What you can do
-
Timer or manual entry
People who work in blocks use the timer; people who reconstruct the day at the end of a shift enter hours by hand. Same time entry, same fields.
-
Cross-cutting tags
Mark entries with labels that cut across projects — travel, overtime, warranty — and find them again in reports without inventing fake projects.
-
Questions on closing an entry
The company can require mandatory information before an entry is closed: job number, client reference, outcome of the intervention.
-
Hour approval
Entries can go through an approval queue: whoever coordinates approves or rejects, and only approved hours reach the invoice.
-
Recovering orphaned entries
When a project is reorganised, hours left without a destination land in a dedicated list and are reassigned in bulk. No hour disappears in the reshuffle.
Frequently asked questions
Can time be logged for a past day?
Yes. Manual entry accepts a date, a start time and a duration, so you can report retroactively. The company can nonetheless lock periods already exported or invoiced, so they are no longer modified.
What is the difference between the timer and Pomodoro?
The timer logs working hours against projects. Pomodoro is a focus aid available as an add-on: it keeps a history of your sessions but produces no time entries and never enters the reports.
What happens if someone leaves the timer running all night?
The running timer is always prominent in the interface and the entry can be corrected before it is closed. If it has already been saved, it stays editable until the period is locked or exported.
