Seeing the address book on your phone or in Thunderbird

Address-book programs — Apple Contacts, Thunderbird — connect through an address. Two things are needed: the URL and an app password. Both are in the «Control centre» (at the bottom of the left-hand menu), «Settings» item.

1. The address

In the «CardDAV» tab (the first one) there is the «CardDAV URL» field with the icon to copy it next to it. «Use this URL to set up Apple Contacts, Thunderbird or other CardDAV clients.» — in the program you paste it as the server address.

2. The password

⚠️ Your account password is not used: a dedicated one is generated, which you can revoke without touching anything else.

1. The «App passwords» tab, next to «CardDAV».
2. The «Generate password» button at the top right.
3. «Password generated» appears with the password and the icon to copy it. «Copy this password now. It won’t be shown again.» — if you lose it, it cannot be recovered: you generate another one.

In the address-book program, as username put your Kamzan email and as password the one you just copied.

Below there is the list of passwords already generated (or «No app passwords»): the bin icon on a row opens «Revoke password», with the question «Are you sure you want to revoke this password?».

When you change phone

Nothing to touch in Kontacts: you revoke the old device’s password and generate one for the new one.

If you cannot find the tabs

Connecting external clients is a privilege of the user typology («CardDAV (client esterni)»); without it, in «Settings» there is neither «CardDAV» nor «App passwords». Ask whoever manages Kontacts users.
