The address book that fills up by itself

On the «Address Books» page there may be an address book you did not create: it is called “Rubrica … di …”, with the company name and yours. It is born from using the other products of the ecosystem: every time you invite someone to a Kalendo event or a kMeeting meeting, share something from Files or add a participant in Flow, that address ends up there.

If you use kMail, there is also “Contatti da email”: the addresses you have written to.

They serve one purpose only: when you write to that person again, their address completes by itself instead of having to remember it. They are your address books — no colleague sees the addresses collected by you, and you do not see theirs.

They are not your “real” contacts

An address collected this way often has only the email and a name: it is what went by in an invitation or a share, not a card. If that person really matters, open it and use «Copy to another address book» towards your own address book, or create a full contact for them — at that point you will have the same address in two places, and that is normal. Inside the automatic address book, instead, the same address is never collected twice.

Getting them out of the way

• To clean up once: in «Address Books», the eraser icon («Empty address book») on its row. The contacts of the other address books are not touched; new addresses will start arriving again.
• To keep them out of searches: on the «Contacts» page, in the dropdown next to «Search contacts…», choose your own address book instead of «All address books».
• You can rename it and change its colour («Edit»), but not delete it: it is the place where the other products write. The bin icon on the row is there, but the confirmation leads nowhere. “Contatti da email”, instead, can be deleted — and kMail recreates it at the first email.

Collection cannot be switched off: it works this way for everyone.
