Address books

«Address Books» is the second item in the left-hand menu. Every address book is a container: it decides who sees those contacts.

The page is a list: for every address book the name, how many contacts it has and the badges («Default», «Shared»); on the right of the row the action icons — import, «Download address book (.vcf)», «Share», «Edit», «Empty address book», «Delete». Only the ones you can do on that address book appear.

On a phone the icons are gathered in the three dots on the right of the row, which open the «Actions» sheet. Above the list there is the «Search address books…» field.

Creating one

1. The blue button «New address book» at the top right.
2. In the window that opens: «Name», «Description» and a «Color», which helps you recognise it in lists (the dot next to the address-book name on every contact).
3. «Save».

To rename it or change its colour: the pencil icon («Edit») on the row opens the same window, «Edit address book».

The default one

The one with the «Default» badge is the first, the one Kontacts created for you at the start (it is called “Contatti”). It is where new contacts go when you do not choose, and it cannot be deleted — emptied, yes.

Deleting

The bin icon («Delete») on the row. The «Delete address book» confirmation opens: ⚠️ «Are you sure? All contacts in this address book will be deleted.» — it is not like getting rid of a folder: the contacts inside go with it. If you want to keep them, copy them elsewhere first or download the .vcf.

If instead you want to keep the address book and empty it, there is the eraser icon («Empty address book»): it has a page of its own.

Two address books never get deleted: the «Default» one and the one that fills up by itself with addresses from the other products (it is called “Rubrica … di …”, with the company name and yours): it has a page of its own too.

If you do not see the «Address Books» item

Having more than one address book is a privilege of the user typology («Crea piu’ rubriche»); without it, and without address books shared by others, the item does not appear in the menu and you work in the default address book only. Ask whoever manages Kontacts users.
