End-to-end encrypted meetings

An end-to-end encrypted meeting is recognised by the small E2E padlock next to the title, at the top left of the room. Hovering over it you read «End-to-end encryption active — click for the verification code», and clicking it: «Audio, video and chat are encrypted on devices: the server cannot read them.»

It is chosen at creation: the «End-to-end encryption» switch is in the «Options» step (or in the «Start an instant meeting» window), and it appears only if your user type has the privilege and the company the extension. Afterwards it cannot be changed: in «Edit» you read «End-to-end encryption was chosen when the meeting was created and cannot be changed.»

⚠️ What you lose, and it is not a fault

Recording and transcript are not there — «Start REC» does not appear. It is not a missing feature: to record, the server would have to read what goes through, which is exactly what this mode prevents. The switch already says so when you turn it on: «Audio, video and chat are encrypted on devices: the server can’t read them. A Kamzan account is required to join; to include external people, invite them by email from inside the meeting. Recording and transcription disabled.»

There is not even the generic link to pass around to anyone.

How someone outside your organisation gets in

One by one, by email, from the room: «Participants» in the bottom bar → «Invite participants» at the top of the panel → «By email» tab. Each one gets a personal link — no single link that could get around. If you open «Copy meeting link», the window reminds you and offers «Invite by email».

Checking that nobody got in the middle

Clicking the E2E padlock opens the «Verification code»: «Read it out loud with the other participants: if it matches for everyone, you’re in the same encrypted group (no server in the middle).» It is the only check that cannot be faked, and it costs ten seconds.

If you cannot get in

• «Your browser can’t guarantee the end-to-end encryption required by this meeting. Update to Chrome 137+, Firefox 129+ or Safari 17+.» — the only solution is updating the browser.
• «This meeting is protected with end-to-end encryption. Sign in with a Kamzan account, or — if you are a guest — open the personal invite link you received by email.» — you are using the wrong link: you need your own.
• «This invitation is no longer valid: it may have already been used or have expired. Ask the organizer for a new invitation.» — the personal link is valid once only.
