Inside the meeting: the command bar

At the bottom there is the command bar; each button’s name shows when you hover over it. From left to right:

  • Microphone: «Mute microphone» / «Unmute microphone». The small arrow next to it opens «Select microphone» and «Select speaker».
  • Camera: «Turn off camera» / «Turn on camera». Its arrow opens «Select camera» and the «Video effects».
  • «Share screen» and «Share YouTube video» (they have a page of their own).
  • «Start REC» — only the organiser, with the privilege.
  • «Raise hand» — to ask for the floor without interrupting; the same button becomes «Lower hand».
  • «Send reaction» — opens the emoji, when a nod is enough.
  • «Copy meeting link».
  • «Chat» and «Participants», which open the panels on the right.
  • «Open Picture-in-Picture» and, if the company has enabled it, «Personal note».
  • «Leave meeting» and, for the organiser, «End for everyone».

On the phone the bar has only microphone, camera, «Chat», «Other» and «Leave meeting»: everything else («Raise hand», «Participants», «Switch camera», «Copy meeting link»…) lives in the sheet that «Other» opens.

At the top left stays the meeting title; on your tile, next to your name, the call duration ticks.

Getting a better look at one person

Hovering over a tile a pin appears: «Pin to spotlight» keeps it large while the others talk; the same pin becomes «Remove pin» to go back to the grid. While someone shares the screen, at the top you find «Enter fullscreen» and «Hide participants», which closes the strip of tiles.

Keeping on working during the meeting

«Open Picture-in-Picture» detaches the video into a small window that stays above the other applications; the page keeps saying «The meeting is in the floating window. Audio and chat continue to work here.» with the «Bring back to foreground» button. In the Control centre → «Preferences» you can make it kick in by itself when you switch tab («Automatic Picture-in-Picture»).

Closing

«Leave meeting» takes you out. The organiser also has «End for everyone»: it asks for confirmation with «End the meeting?»«All participants will be disconnected.» — and the «End meeting» button.
