Recording a meeting

In the bottom bar, after «Share screen», the organiser has «Start REC» (on the phone it lives in the «Other» sheet). The «Start recording?» confirmation opens, and it is worth reading: «Audio from all participants and the screen share (if active) will be recorded. Webcams are not included. Everyone in the meeting will see a notice that recording is in progress.» At the bottom, «Start recording».

Then it is up to those present: each one gets the «Consenso alla registrazione» window with a countdown and two choices, «Accetto la registrazione» or leaving. Meanwhile you see at the top «In attesa dei consensi alla registrazione» with the list of who has answered.

From that moment everyone sees the red band «RECORDING»: there is no secret recording.

To stop it: the same button has become «STOP».

⚠️ Why the video can come out black

The shared screen is recorded, not the webcams. If nobody shares, only the audio remains — and the confirmation says so beforehand: «No one is sharing their screen: until a share starts the video will stay black and only audio will be recorded. You can start sharing later too: it will be included in the recording from the moment it starts.»

Sending the material to the participants

In the same confirmation there is the «Send the material to participants when the recording ends» checkbox; ticking it you choose what: «Recording video», «Transcript», «Summary». Participants, in the consent window, are asked (optionally) for the address to receive it at.

⚠️ It does not go out right away: «Transcript and summary take a few minutes after the meeting ends: the material goes out when they are ready, not immediately. The delivery outcome is shown on the Recordings page.»

If you cannot start it

• «Storage full: you cannot start new recordings until you delete some.» — the archive is full: you free it up from the Recordings page.
• If the button is not there at all, recording is a privilege of the user type («Registrazione meeting»), and the extension must be active for the company. Ask whoever manages kMeeting users.
• In end-to-end encrypted meetings recording does not exist, and it is not a temporary limit: see the dedicated page.
