kMeeting guide
Webinar mode
At creation, in the «Options» step, the first dropdown is «Mode»: «Meeting (everyone participates)» or «Webinar (only the host broadcasts)». Under the dropdown the sentence explaining the difference changes:
- «Everyone can use microphone and camera. Screen sharing requires host permission.»
- «Only the host can broadcast audio, video, and screen. Participants can only watch and use chat.»
In a webinar, participants do not have the microphone and camera buttons in the bar: they have «Chat», «Raise hand» and the reactions.
The webinar is for when the audience is large and must not speak up: a presentation, a company announcement, a lecture-style training. Questions go through the chat, and whoever needs to step in is appointed «Co-host» (in the Participants panel, the «Promote to co-host» icon next to the name) for as long as needed.
If you cannot find the choice
If the «Mode» dropdown has a single entry, the webinar is a privilege of the user type («Modalita’ webinar») that you do not have. Ask whoever manages kMeeting users.
