The signed list of what was there, when you delivered it
You deliver a case’s documentation and want a record of what was inside: name, path, size, who uploaded it, when, how many versions, whom it was shared with — and the SHA-256 fingerprint of every file, proving that was the file. One XLSX, generated from the context menu.
A report, with the limits of whoever requests it
The index walks the folder and all its subfolders and writes one row per file. The SHA-256 fingerprint is computed by reading the file from the archive at generation time: on thousands of files it takes a few minutes, and Files says so before starting and shows progress. The index contains only what the person generating it can see: hidden, confidential or unauthorised folders are not there, because a downloadable sheet must not carry out what the screen does not show.
How it works

Right-click → Generate XLSX index
On the folder. Files counts folders and files to analyse and warns if computing fingerprints will take time.

Wait for the notification
Generation is a queued job, with progress “142 / 2,310”. When ready, you get the notification and the file to download.

Attach, archive, compare
The XLSX is attached to the delivery or placed in the folder itself. Regenerating it in six months, the fingerprints tell you whether anything changed.
A list with fingerprints is not argued about: it is verified.
What you can do

Fingerprint for every file
SHA-256 computed from the real content at generation time: the same fingerprint used by the blockchain timestamp and preservation.

Versions and shares
For every file how many versions exist and whom it is shared with, so the index also tells who could have had it.

Only what is visible
Hidden branches, confidential folders, subfolders without permission: out of the sheet, even if they sit under the starting folder.

One permission
“Can generate XLSX reports” sits in the access level: those who deliver have it, those who consult do not.
Frequently asked questions
Does the index include files in the trash?
No: only the active files of the folder and its visible subfolders.
How long does it take?
It depends on the number and size of files, because every fingerprint requires reading them. A few dozen files: seconds. Thousands: minutes, with progress on screen and a notification at the end.
Can it be generated for a whole workspace?
The workspace has its own index in the overview, with the content count. For the sheet with fingerprints, generate it on the workspace’s root folder.
