The right structure is decided once
“01 Contract, 02 Documents, 03 Correspondence, 04 Invoices” — and under Invoices “2025, 2026”. By the third client someone types “Invocies”. A structure template saves the tree and reapplies it identically: folders and subfolders, no files, no typos.
From folder to template, and back
A template is born from an existing folder — right-click → “Save as structure template” — or built from scratch in settings. It contains only the tree: folder names and their hierarchy, not files, not permissions. It applies to any folder where you can create subfolders: new job, new client, new year. Templates belong to the company, are visible to those with the permission, and are updated from settings without touching folders already created.
How it works

Save the good structure
On the model folder: right-click → “Save as structure template”. Files warns that only folders will be saved. Give it a name: “Client case”.

Apply where needed
Where the new client should be born: right-click → “Apply template” → pick which one and name the root folder, “Client Bianchi”. It is created with the whole tree beneath, empty and ready.

Tweak in settings
Settings → Structure templates: rename, add or remove branches, delete. Folders already created stay as they are.
The “Invocies” folder is never born, if the structure is a template.
What you can do

Folders only
No files, no permissions: the template is the shape, not the content. Permissions come from the folder you apply it to, by inheritance.

Free depth
Three levels or eight: the template saves the tree as it is. For a fiscal year with twelve months and four quarters it works just the same.

With Automatic reorganisation
The structures the AI proposes can be saved as templates: the best one becomes the standard for the clients after.

One permission
“Can save and apply structure templates” in the access level: those who open new cases have it.
Frequently asked questions
How is it different from “Clone structure”?
Clone structure copies an existing folder’s tree to another location, once. The template saves it with a name and reapplies it as many times as you like, even months later, even by someone who has never seen the original folder.
Is the template applied inside an existing folder?
The template creates a new folder — with the name you give — and the tree beneath it, in the location you choose. It does not mix its folders with those already present: the structure is born clean.
Are templates per person or per company?
Per company: whoever has the permission sees and uses them all. That is the point — the structure is an organisation’s decision, not an individual’s.
