Questions and conditional logic

Not everything you ask for is a file. A step can be a question, and the answer can decide which documents appear afterwards.

Asking a question

In the template’s «Structure» step, «Add step» and then «Question» in the «Choose the type of step» menu. Under the step’s name there’s «Answer type», with the options in a row: «Single choice», Dropdown, «Yes / No», «Free text», «Number», «Date». For the first two you write the entries under «Options», one at a time with «Add option».

With «Let the participant attach a file to the answer» the question also accepts a document, and «Attachment required» demands it.

Making the right documents appear

With the Logica Condizionale extension a closed-choice question can show or hide topics and steps. To do it you need to:

1. in the template’s «Organization» step, switch on «Conditional logic»;
2. in the «Structure» step, open the step or topic to hide and, at the bottom, press «Add condition» under «Visibility condition»;
3. choose «An answer has a certain value» (or «A step is completed»), then the step in «— Select question step —» and the answer in «— Select value —».

Whoever answers “company” sees the company documents, whoever answers “sole trader” doesn’t. The participant doesn’t have to read instructions to understand what concerns them — they only see their part. Conditioned elements carry the «Conditional» label in the request’s tree.

It only works with closed-choice questions: a «Free text» can’t drive anything. And it doesn’t get along with the «Introductory dashboard»: with the logic on, the dashboard switches itself off.

⚠️ Changing an answer can delete documents

If the participant goes back and changes an answer, the documents of the branch that disappears are no longer needed. Before going ahead they read «Change answer?» and, right underneath, how many files will be removed. Only then is there «Change and remove».

When it blocks instead

If in that branch there’s already something validated, the change doesn’t go through: «Some documents in this branch have already been validated and cannot be removed. To change this answer, request it from the administrator.»

The participant writes the reason and presses «Send request»; from that moment they read «You requested to change this answer. Waiting for the administrator to unlock the validated documents.»

On your side the request arrives as a notification and appears in the «Activation details» window («Management» gear on the collection’s row), in a «Requests» section that only exists when there’s at least one: the row says «Wants to change the answer» and underneath are the «Validated documents involved». You can «Dismiss» or «Remove validation» — then the participant can change.

If there’s no conditional logic

It’s an extension (Logica Condizionale): it’s switched on for the whole company, not for a single flow. Ask whoever administers Kamzan.
