Seeing the calendar on your phone or in Thunderbird

Calendar clients — Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, eM Client — connect through an address, not an app to install. Two things are needed: the URL and an app password. Both are in the «Control centre» (at the bottom of the left-hand menu) → «Settings».

1. The address

«CalDAV» tab: there is the «CalDAV URL» field with the icon to copy it, and the note «Use this URL to configure Apple Calendar, Thunderbird or other CalDAV clients.». It is the address of all your calendars: the client discovers them by itself, and it is the recommended way.

If instead you want to add just one: at the top right «Calendars», three dots next to the calendar → «CalDAV URL». The panel shows two boxes, «This calendar only» and «All calendars», each with its own «Copy URL».

2. The password

⚠️ In the client your account password is not used: a dedicated password is used, which you can revoke without touching the rest.

  1. «App passwords» tab, next to «CalDAV».
  2. The «Generate password» button. Give it a name that reminds you where it is used («Name (e.g. “Thunderbird”)»).
  3. «Password created successfully!» appears with the password. «Copy it now, it will not be shown again.» — if you lose it, it cannot be recovered: you generate another one and revoke the old one.

3. In the client

«Add a new CalDAV account», then: server URL the one you copied, username your email, password the app one.

When you change phone

No need to touch anything in Kalendo: in the table of the «App passwords» tab, «Revoke» on the old device’s row (it asks for confirmation: «Revoke password») and generate a new one for the new device. The «Last used» column tells you which ones are still needed.

If you cannot find the tabs

Connecting external clients is a capability of the user typology («CalDAV (client esterni)»); without it, in «Settings» there is neither «CalDAV» nor «App passwords». Ask whoever manages Kalendo users.
