Kalendo guide
Bringing in the events of another calendar
To import an .ics file you need to:
- Click «Calendars» at the top right: the panel with the list opens.
- On the row of the calendar you want to put them in, the three dots → «Import .ics». The panel shows the «Import calendar» card, which says by name which calendar they will end up in.
- Drag the file into the box («Drag and drop a .ics file here, or click to browse») and confirm with «Import».
At the end you read how many items were imported and how many duplicates were ignored.
The .ics file is the format every calendar exports to: if you are coming
from another system, ask for “export to .ics” and you will get this.
Three things to know first
- «Items already in the calendar will be skipped, not overwritten.» — if you run it twice you do not end up with everything doubled.
- «No invitation emails will be sent, even if the file contains attendees.» — nobody receives surprise invitations for meetings already past.
- «Reminders are kept only for future events.»
⚠️ The tick that avoids the avalanche of notifications
«Import without reminders» is already on, and must be left on during a migration: without it, you get the reminders of events your old calendar is already notifying: doubled, for weeks.
If it does not work
«Please select a valid .ics or .ical file.» means the file is not a calendar — it happens to export another format by mistake.
If in the three-dots menu you cannot find «Import .ics», importing is a capability of the user typology («Import .ics»). Ask whoever manages Kalendo users. The item is also missing on external calendars (Google, Microsoft) and on those shared with you: you only import into your own.
