Tags on entries

A «Tags» is a free label you attach to an entry: “overtime”, “on site at the client”, “to re-invoice”.

You add it from the «Tags» field in the entry’s window (in «Start timer» it sits under «Show advanced settings»): type, and pick from the list that appears. In the «Time entries» filters — the three-lines icon on the right above the list — there is the «Tags» field to pick only the hours that carry it; the same in the export.

Tag or activity?

They look the same and are not:

  • The activity is the official classification, the one reports are built on. There is one per entry and an administrator decides it.
  • The tag cuts across and you can add more than one. It is for the questions that come up later, once the list of activities is already fixed.

If you ask something every month, it probably wants an activity. If you ask it once for a particular case, it wants a tag.

Where they are created

Those allowed to manage them from the «Catalog» (left-hand menu), «Tags» tab at the top of the page: the blue «New tag» button at the top right opens a window with «Name» and «Color». On each tag in the list, the three dots open «Edit» and «Delete»; clicking the tag itself opens your entries that carry it.

If you cannot see them

Tags are a part that each organisation decides whether to use, and the list is managed by an administrator. If you need a tag that is not there, ask them.
