Taking a note out of Notika

On the open note, the three dots at the top right of the pane («Note actions»): «Save to Files» to put it in the company archive, or «Download» — which opens the choice «Markdown (.md)» / «Word (.docx)» — to have it on the computer.

⚠️ The one on Files is a copy

The note stays here: the one on Files is a copy, and does not update if you edit it tomorrow. It is for handing something over, not for moving the work there.

It is also the answer to “how do I make a note outlive me?”: Notika is the personal notebook, Files is where the content becomes the company’s.

Markdown or Word

In the «Save to Files» window, the «Format»: «Markdown (.md)» or «Word (.docx)», and below the «File name».

• Markdown — «Markdown text file: headings, lists and checkboxes stay recognisable, and Files opens it in its own editor. The note stays here: the one in Files is a copy, and it will not update if you edit this one tomorrow.» ⚠️ But images do not go in: the file name stays in their place.
• Word — «Word document, with the note’s images embedded. The note stays here: the one in Files is a copy, and it will not update if you edit this one tomorrow.» The right choice if the note has figures.

In both cases voice notes do not go in: the file name stays in their place.

Where it ends up

Below, the «Personal» / «Company» switch picks the Files space («Personal space» or «Company space»); then you enter folders by clicking them («Previous folder» to go back up) and confirm with «Save here». If you read «You do not have access to this Files space.», that part of Files is not yours.

The other way round: bringing a file in

From the little arrow next to «New» at the top right, «Import from file»: the document becomes a note.

If you cannot find «Save to Files»

It is a capability of the user typology (called like the item, Salva su Files, in user management), and the company needs to have Files. The download to the computer remains anyway.
