Topics: giving events a category
A topic is the event’s category: customer meeting, training, off-site. It is what later lets you tell them apart without reading the titles.
On the event: in the small window, click the first row (the one with the calendar): below it the topic dropdown appears, starting from «No topic». Next to the dropdown, the + («New topic») creates one on the fly: write the «New topic name» and confirm.
To manage them all: Control centre → «Settings» → «Topics» tab. It is a table with «Name», «Colour» and «Activity»; at the top right «New topic», on every row the icons to edit and delete.
⚠️ The “Meeting” topic is «built-in» and cannot be renamed: it is the one videoconferences use.
The two things a topic carries with it
In the topic’s card («New topic» or «Edit topic»), besides name and colour:
«Default activity» — if hours are tracked in the company, choosing that topic on an event sets the tracking activity by itself.
«Wording on the company calendar» — with which words that event appears to colleagues when you flag yourself as busy. It is the way to say “Off-site” instead of the generic «Busy», without ever publishing the real title.
If you delete a topic
The events that had it do not disappear: they remain «No topic». The «Delete topic» confirmation tells you first: «Events with this topic will go back to no category. Continue?».
